Hand Position at Address
Over the last few years, there’s been a lot of talk about steep or shallow swings. Personally, I believe that better players carry both types of shots in their bag, with a preference for one as their default—provided they control the Vertical Arc Depth.
However, one thing that often flies under the radar for Joe and Sally Golfer is hand height at setup—whether low, high, or neutral. I also think not enough attention is given to how the lie influences setup, which directly impacts the final result. Another classic case of golf swing versus playing golf as the needle.
I encourage my clients to experiment with low, high, and neutral hand positions because this hands-on exploration helps them learn better. It’s the same principle behind differential learning.
